Steinunn Vala found her inspiration for the collection while she "...was reading Alice in Wonderland for my little boys. The Mad Hatters tea Party is our favourite part. Where bow ties, riddles, porcelain and madness dominate everything. The story itself does a great job, unknowingly, reflecting on how I see people and life in general. How the strangeness and peculiarity is yet so normal. How we are all the same, even though we are different. I think it’s a beautiful message, even though it’s hidden within all the mad chaos.”
For this collection we brought in a team of local craftsmen to help us create something unique. Fish and flowers made from the finest porcelain by local ceramist Svafa Björg, wooden bows and bow ties made from bended strips of tanned ash and cherry wood by furniture carpenter Muggi and a bird ring made by Ásthildur Reynisdóttir, a dental technician, and the goldsmith Stefán Bogi.
